Background
Techo International Airport is Cambodia's newest major international gateway, located approximately 20 kilometers south of Phnom Penh. Officially opened on September 9, 2025, the airport serves as the nation's primary aviation hub, connecting Cambodia to the region and the world and spanning 2,600 hectares.
As EV adoption accelerates across Southeast Asia, the airport recognized the need for robust charging infrastructure to support its growing base of EV users while maintaining operational efficiency and service excellence.
Challenges
Before the project, EV users at the airport faced limited charging options, creating both convenience and operational challenges. The airport required a solution that could integrate seamlessly into its parking design, deliver consistent high-power performance, and support multiple vehicle types — all while maintaining the aesthetic and functional standards expected from a world-class international hub.
The technical design needed to accommodate future scalability, ensuring the system could expand as EV usage continues to grow in Cambodia.

Solution-40kW PowerBoost
To meet these needs, the project team deployed 40 DC fast chargers, each rated at 40 kW with 125 A CCS1 connectors. The chargers were strategically installed across the parking areas to optimize accessibility, visibility, and power distribution. The setup ensures efficient utilization during peak hours and provides convenient access for both short-term travelers and long-term parkers, as well as airport service vehicles.

Results
Since commissioning, the charging stations have significantly improved user convenience and operational efficiency. EV drivers now benefit from fast, reliable charging in both standard and premium zones, reducing waiting times and enhancing the airport’s service quality.
The project also contributes to the airport’s broader sustainability goals — supporting reduced emissions, improved energy efficiency, and alignment with Cambodia’s national strategy for clean mobility. With scalable infrastructure in place, Techo International Airport is well-positioned to expand its EV services as demand continues to rise.

Powering Sustainable Airports
Techo International Airport’s EV charging initiative marks a pivotal step toward cleaner, smarter airport operations, setting a benchmark for sustainable transportation infrastructure in the region.
